Beer was decent, IPA's were very malty - not my normal preference in an IPA, but still very good. The mango beer was fabulous. Cute inside and has a patio. ”

“ It was a gorgeous Friday, and we decided to do a short road trip. These are the days I always treasure. Just the two of us. Sharing stories and listening to music while we road trip. I was in need of some tagabrew tags in Lexington and we wanted to be close to the water. Lexington is only a little over an hour from my house so hey! Why not? This location is on the tagabrew trail so it was on the list! We also wanted to try their famous burger! We got there and parked in the street. Parking was free and easy which is always a bonus. When we walked in I thought it was a fairly small place (I didn't realize there was a full dining area on the other side). The brewery is owned by Firefighters, so as you can imagine, there is a full firefighter theme. Very cool! I enjoyed looking at all the decor. There is obviously a hunting theme as well, as the name of the brewery suggests. We started out guessing which animal head on the wall was which before realizing they were labeled. Haha. We got the last two seats at the bar. We were immediately greeted and I couldn't resist asking for popcorn. My choice of beer was easy as I'm pretty predictable. Red, amber, or brown are my go to choices. Rescue Red for the win. He took a bit longer when his choice but finally decided on an IPA. Even though we had pizza at 1, we were starving by this time and decided to order. The bartender/waitress was very helpful. We decided to split the Irish nachos, which were basically potato chips, cheese, and huge delicious chunks of corned beef. I am not a raw pepper or raw onion eater so we got that on the side and he added it to his portion. We also split an elk burger. We weren't sure at all what to expect. I have eaten moose before but not elk (the taste is pretty much the same). Elk is very lean meat so we were advised to eat it medium rare or rare we chose medium rare. I was surprised to see how compact the meat was. Unlike beef, it's not as crumbly so it was a perfect circle. We had the choice between a brioche bun or pretzel bun. We chose brioche. I think a pretzel bun would have been a bit much. The burger was enormous! You can't expect it to taste like beef or you'll be disappointed. It has a bit more of a "gamey" taste to it. I honestly can't say I loved it. But it was good. He said he liked it better in the morning. Some foods are like that. There were also several choices of sides. We chose a southwest salad. It was a cold mixture of corn and beans and onions and cilantro and lemon juice. Now I just said I don't like raw onions. Lol. I also don't like beans (any legume) as the texture grosses me out. I'm weird that way. But I literally chowed this. It was delicious! We truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely come back when we are in the area. I recommend coming and checking it out. Oh! They participate in hop passport as well. Bonus! Half off your first two beers. He was going to get a flight but changed his mind when we realized that they were participating! If you don't have a passport you're missing out on some great deals! ”
